CAMP FACILITIES: We have over 8 therapy rooms in our Alpine Academy and 3 therapy rooms in our Interventions Unlimited building. the classrooms are small with great computers and activities, toys, and learning material.
A team of highly qualified educators and behavior analysts work with both students and parents to help children reach their maximum potential. Using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and evidence-based teaching methods, our dedicated and trained staff will teach the necessary skills for success in a fun and loving environment. Low student to teacher ratio and data driven instruction drive the overwhelming success of the Academy. We serve children with autism, Asperger's Syndrome, PDD-NOS, ADHD, ADD, SLD Down Syndrome, and children without a specific diagnosis.
Why choose Alpine Academy for your child?
• Aiming High: At Alpine Academy, we work with you and your child by establishing mutually agreed upon individual educational goals, which are reviewed and revised quarterly. Students are placed at their individual instructional level and allowed to master skills as rapidly and frequently as they are able. Students advance only after solid mastery of prerequisite skills. We have high expectations for our students and spend extensive time with each student to ensure his or her skill development reaches its maximum potential.
• Achieving: At Alpine Academy, student achievement is our top priority. We ensure that students will be successful by selecting only evidence-based sequences of instruction and continuously measuring progress toward selected objectives. We constantly evaluate our teaching methods to ensure that the students are learning efficiently. We focus on creating a positive and rewarding learning experience, so the students enjoy learning and become motivated learners, as learning is a life-long journey.
• Collaborating: At Alpine, parents are our most valuable educational partners. We provide individualized attention to each family's specific needs to ensure skills learned in the classroom transition smoothly into each child's home and daily lives. We understand the importance of your involvement and actively work with you to facilitate positive outcomes.
Educational Programs
Social Academic Program
Have you often felt that your child may be too “high functioning” for a self contained ESE classroom, yet he or she is “struggling” in a regular education classroom? If so, our school may be the option for you. At Alpine Academy, we have designed a specific program to help meet the needs of your child. Our social academic program is designed to meet the particular academic and social needs of high functioning students with Autism, ADD, ADHD, and Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD).
The core curriculum used in our academic programs is Direct Instruction. DI is a model that emphasizes carefully-planned lessons focused on learning in small increments and focuses instruction around clearly-defined teaching tasks. DI is based on the theory that by using clear instruction and teaching to mastery, teachers can accelerate learning for all students – high performers as well as students with learning disabilities.
Under DI, students will be placed in flexible, homogeneous groups in reading, language, and math. Students are expected to score 90% or higher on the daily and weekly assessments. Skills are taught and scaffolded along the way so that 85% of each lesson reviews previously taught skills and 15% of instruction is introducing new skills. Students advance through the program only once they have demonstrated mastery of the concepts. Students who show exceptional progress can fast-cycle through lessons if they show continued mastery of concepts. Students are individually assessed every 5 to 10 lessons, and their progress is meticulously tracked by the teacher.
Language and Learning Skills Program
This program is intended for students who need basic language and academic skills. This program uses the ABLLS-R (Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills) as an assessment tool, curriculum guide, and skills-tracking system. ABLL-R is used to help guide the instruction of language and critical learning skills for children with autism or other developmental disabilities. The ABLLS-R provides a comprehensive review of 544 skills from 25 skill areas including language, social interaction, self-help, academic, and motor skills which most typically developing children acquire prior to entering kindergarten. The task items within each skill area are arranged from simple to more complex tasks. Expressive language skills are assessed based upon the behavioral analysis of language as presented by Dr. B.F. Skinner in his book, Verbal Behavior (1957).
Functional/Vocational Skills Program
Our Functional Skills Program is designed to prepare students for greater independence through functional skills instruction. This program uses the Assessment of Functional Living Skills(AFLS) to assess, track, and develop an appropriate sequence of goals for learners. The AFLS tracks progress in six different modules: Basic Living Skills, Home Skills, Community Participation Skills, Vocational Skills, and Independent Living Skills.

CAMP FACILITIES: NA - Camp is online
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Founded in 2014 by Austin parents Allan and Heather Staker, Brain Chase is the product of his filmmaking/tech background and her online education expertise. They are both Harvard-educated and their 5 children were the inspiration behind the creation of this revolutionary new summer program
Brain Chase is a 6-week summer learning challenge disguised as a massive global treasure hunt for 2nd−8th graders. A golden globe has been buried somewhere on earth – and it contains the key to a safe deposit box holding a $10,000 college scholarship fund. Participants who complete an hour of online summer learning activities each day will unlock secret animated webisodes that hold the clues to the globe’s whereabouts. Guess the treasure’s location first, and you’ll be the one on a plane to dig it up.
Enrollment is limited to the first 5,000 entrants.
Kickoff is June 30. Last registration July 18.
- See more at: Our Camp Website Link: brainchase.com
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Additional children from same household are half off for each registration.
OTHER CAMP INFO: You spend 10 months of every year in school, but much of that hard work likely vanishes during summer break. Who wants to do boring worksheets when school’s out? Brain Chase is a summer enrichment program that’s FUN. Action-packed animations, mysterious packages in the mail, and the hunt for buried treasure turn learning into an adventure. It’s FLEXIBLE. You’ll do the challenge when you want, where you want, and at your own pace. And it’s CUSTOMIZED. You get to work at your own level. - See more at: Our Camp Website Link: brainchase.com

CAMP FACILITIES: We feel that a camp experience should be one filed with the allure of living outdoors. Part of the experience is the soothing sounds of the Florida night. Our rustic cabins give the camper the perfect blend of the outdoor experience and a few comforts of home. Our cabins have 12-16 bunks, ceiling fans, power, storage shelves and a front porch. Teen campers enrolled in Camp Warrior live in more modern cabins complete with air conditioning, lofts, and a kitchenette. Bathhouses are located next to the cabin areas. Each bathhouse features toilets, sinks, and private shower stalls.
The flagship of our facilities is our newer 14,000 square foot activities center complete with 24 stall center isle barn, with tack rooms, wash bays, bathrooms and indoor skatepark. This 40 acre facility also houses our new high ropes challenge course designed by Project Adventure and our ATV track. Next to our activities center is our new camp office which includes a recording studio and comfortable, climate controlled activity room for Camp Warrior. An extensive renovation plan is in place over the next three years that will transform camp!
Another high point of Camp Indian Springs facilities is our natural fresh water spring. This natural wonder is over 40′ deep in some places! For most of the year the water flows clear and it always remains a refreshing 68 degrees. Indian Springs is internationally know as one of the best cave systems in the world to dive. Unfortunately we can’t offer this to our campers but we stay very busy catering to the divers in the off season. Tours can be arranged with Cave Connections.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Indian Springs, first established in 1965, is a fun-filled, action packed private summer resident camp for boys and girls ages 7-16. Located on 77 acres, camp is nestled beside the wooded springs of beautiful Wakulla Springs State Park amidst the Apalachicola and Wakulla Forest of North Florida. Camp Indian Springs offers a summer experience rich in fun, friendship, learning and extreme adventure. Camp Indian Springs is truly a place where a summer will last a lifetime!
While the Camp Indian Springs facilities and programs are terrific, we believe that it’s our camp staff that makes the summer experience truly special. At Camp Indian Springs you will find a tremendous concentration of down-to-earth campers and great role-models that provide a wonderfully inclusive environment for your child. We are lucky to have so many first-time camp families, which we believe is mostly due to the emphasis we place on recruiting seasoned staff and outstanding camp “moms.”
Sending a child to camp is an act of great faith by parents. As directors, we take that responsibility very seriously. We strive to maintain an environment that both encourages personal growth and creates an unforgettable summer experience. The Camp Indian Springs Community is caring and supporting, and is at the core of everything that takes place at camp.
A camp is only as strong as its leadership. Camp Indian Springs is committed to providing skilled leadership. Indian Springs counselors are great role models who are focused on the needs of campers, both in the cabins and in classes. What makes Camp Indian Springs stand out above the rest is our 90% staff return rate. Unlike most other summer camps you will not find a staff search on our web site or a Craigslist ad seeking staff. This is due to our extensive C.I.T. (Counselor-In-Training) program and high staff retention rate. Growing a staff within creates a competitive and safe environment to select the best of the best. More than half the staff have been at camp five years or more. All counselors are carefully selected for their camp skills and must possess superb references. All staff must go through an intensive one week staff training which includes effective cabin leadership, teaching skills, emergency procedures, CPR, first aide and a parent to counselor open forum.
High Seas Adventure Camp on our 70 foot yacht. Campers will get the chance to be on the crew of a real yacht as they travel. They will also experience treasure hunts as well as ride jet skis, and use our yachter-slide.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our C.I.T. program is one of our most valued Camp Indian Springs program. This program is vital to the success of our camp. This is where we grow the future camp staff and world leaders of tomorrow. Our Counselor In Training program is the first step to become a camp staff member. The program is for campers age 15 to 17 who desire to become camp staff. The program is designed to teach young men and women to become productive leaders and staff members. A majority of the camp’s current staff have come up through our C.I.T. program.
C.I.T.s are placed in a younger cabin with a Senior and Junior counselor and have a vital role in cabin leadership. C.I.Ts also take a C.I.T. only class and assist in other classes throughout the day.
FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): We are open year round for group retreats, family camps, family reunions, and any other event possible.
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We are open year-round for a tremendous and unforgettable experience for the whole family, school, sports team, or any other group! We have hosted countless retreat groups and they have all had incredibly memorable experiences. We have hosted family camps, family reunions, religious groups, boy scouts, girl scouts, fraternities, sororities, etc.

The time that they work with the groups they earn community service hours for high school. In addition, they will come together with the Teen Eco coordinator and participate in a variety of activities or field trips.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Camp Live Oak allows your child to explore the world around them here in South Florida, enjoying the many aspects of our beautiful environment! Each Camp Live Oak session and week is centered around a theme, with activities and programs built around that theme. Understanding the local natural environment and developing a respect and stewardship for that environment is vital to our program. The integration of science and art into each week allows for creativity and enthusiasm for learning and doing.
Campers enjoy swimming, canoeing, science, kayaking, arts and crafts, sports, surfing, fishing, paddle boarding and archery every week that they are at camp, with different activities rotating on various days. Exciting and educational field trips, guest speakers and specialty programs are scheduled regularly to give your child an extremely well rounded day camp experience!
Remember, you may register for as many, or as few, weeks as you’d like, there is no minimum number of weeks.
We highly recommend children attend for at least two weeks so they are able to have a full camp experience, but we are flexible as we know your summer schedule may be full of fun activities.
Have a child that is 14 – 16 years of age? Check out our Teen Eco Experience, specially designed for high school age campers. This program combines community service hours as well as fun group activities, day field trips, overnight travel excursions throughout Florida and more!
